'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker': J.J. Abrams Comments On Rey's Parents
The biggest kin drama in the entire beetleweed is getting dicier. We've never met Rey's parents in the new Star Wars films, only at present, film director J.J. Abrams says there is "more" to the story than has previously been revealed.
Tongued to First rudiment News in Chicago, only after the release of the new trailer ofThe Rise of Skywalker,Abrams was asked point-blank if Rey's parents would be featured in the new film. InThe Last Jedi, Kylo Ren talks more or less Rey's parents, locution they were "smutty junk traders" WHO sold her into a life of servitude for "crapulence money." Notwithstandin, somewhat polemically, many an have speculated that this isn't the truth, or at the very least, isn't the end of the story close to Rey's parents. And now, J.J. Abrams has said the corresponding affair.
"I will tell that we knew, going into this, that this movie, it had to be a square last. And we were considerably aware that that's 1 of the things that's been away there," Abrams told ABC in a video interview. "I Don River't wishing to say that what happens in Instalment 8 [didn't happen]. We own honored that. But I will say that there's Thomas More to the story than you've seen."
In the preview, we see Rey embracing Leia, which though is spindle-shaped, certainly doesn't mean Rey is Leia's daughter. However, some fans have speculated that Leia could formally espouse Rey, therefore making her a "Skywalker" without ever-changing the story about her begotten defaulter parents in the premature cinema.
Having said that, Star Wars has a pass over record for parental fake-outs. In the seminal Star Wars film —A Early Trust —Gospel of Luke was told two class lies about his father. His uncle told him that his dad was a "navigator along a spice freighter," while Obi-Wan Kenobi told him his dad was "betrayed and murdered" by Darth Vader. Let that sink in. One Star Wars moving-picture show, two lies about somebody's parents. Meaning, if J.J. Abrams has decided Kylo Ren was lying about Rey's parents inThe Last Jedi, helium'd have got a huge Star Wars precedent.
We'll find out what he means on December 20, 2019, whenThe Rise of Skywalkerhits theaters everywhere.
